Our Homeschool Routine

We are having a blast homeschooling.  I love the flexibility and all of the time we have together as a family. Most of my son's schooling is accomplished when the baby is napping (about 3.5 hours).  On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays my son does work in Bible (devotions and Awana), English, handwriting, vocabulary, Literature, spelling, Math, science/history, and geography. On Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays we do BrainPop, Bible, Math, English, Music, Art, Cooking, Play dates, physical education,  library trips, nature walks, movies, and science experiments.

History

Our first year of homeschooling is going well.  J is enjoying 4th grade.  His favorite subject right now is history.  We are using a book called, A Living History of Our World: Ancient Americans Through the Gold Rush.  It is written by Angela O'Dell.  J's favorite part is the journal that accompanies the book.  He enjoys drawing pictures and writing about what he learned in each chapter.

Some of my friends have been encouraging me to start a blog.  I will use this blog to share ideas, favorite resources, and updates about what my nine year old son is studying in our homeschool.  This is my first year homeschooling, and I feel blessed to have this opportunity.
